    Obamarama

    Wednesday, February 20, 2008, 11:55 AM [General]

So I went to the Obama Rally last night...All I can say is that it was totally moving with all the people that were there. The lines were long but bearable. I took probably an hour to get inside the Toyota Center. I took another couple of hours for Obama to make his appearance. There were a few speakers before Obama that were okay...basically cheerleaders. The "Yes You Can/Sí se puede" video came on right before Obama made his appearance. I have to say that when I first saw the video my initial thoughts were that is was corny with all the celebrities but this time I got a little teary-eyed especially with the crowds reaction towards the end. Obama came on and he was great. Tonight Bill Clinton is supposed to speak at the University of Houston but I don't think I am going to make it. Even though I would love to see him make his case for Hills I think I am just going to watch the debate..ahem..mudslinging (I hope not)...tomorrow night. Besides I think I have already made up my mind.

Here are some photos from last night:

P.S. Obama looked very presidential last night!

    Obamamania

    Tuesday, February 19, 2008, 10:46 AM [General]

Going to see Obama tonight! There is a rally down here in Houston at the Toyota Center. Admission is free but you have to reserve an e-ticket online. Bill Clinton will be at UH tomorrow and Chelsea will be at Cyclone Anayas (which is a restaurant down here in Houston). In order to attend the Chelsea rally they are suggesting a $50 dollar donation  or $25 if you are a student. My question is where is Hills? Can't she grace us with her presence?

Not liking the accusation Hillary's camp made about Obama plagiarizing his speech especially since she is not entirely innocent of doing the same thing herself.

    President Bush Vetoes Labor-HHS Bill

    Wednesday, November 14, 2007, 10:40 AM [General]

    Action Alert

UPDATE: President Bush vetoed the FY 2008 Labor-HHS-Education Appropriations bill (H.R. 3043) on Tuesday. Thank you to all MS activists for taking action on this important issue.

The president's action against the health and education funding was not surprising, as he had repeatedly vowed to veto the bill. But the result is still disappointing. This bill would have provided a 3.1% increase for the National Institutes of Health (NIH), including MS research, and a 6% increase for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

In addition, Congress had incorporated nearly $4 million in funding in the bill for the development of a comprehensive MS center at West Virginia University in Morgantown, W.Va. And it included $2 million for state respite care grants authorized by the Lifespan Respite Care Act (which MS activists helped pass last year).

You can go to Congress.org to take action: Write your representative and congressman to urge them to override the veto.
