It’s the second day of the Republican Convention. They had
to curtail their festivities on Monday because of the hurricane in the gulf.
Yes hurricane Gustav reminded Americans of the sorrowful
reaction to hurricane Katrina by the current Republican administration and the
republican leadership didn’t want to be seen on split screen TV telling the
world of their accomplishments while another group of poor people drowned in
N.O. But since the hurricane was not as severe as thought and since there were
too many republicans with too much time and too few un supervised public rest
rooms in St. Paul they thought they would rather get back to crowning McCain as the heir
apparent.
Now with the weather news they have got an unwanted forecast
from their Vice President candidate.Yup, Sarah Palin’s daughter is with child.
She has been bumping uglies with a man who is a self
proclaimed “Northern Redneck”. And I’m sure they will have an interesting baby.
The redneck 18 years old and the daughter 17 years old will avoid
the questions of statutory rape by getting married in Dec.
Now a young girl getting pregnant is not the story except
for the comic relief.( Like when she carried a baby to block the baby she was
carrying) The story here is that Sarah Palins has tried to deny sex education
for teens. She believes that only abstinence works.
Sarah doesn’t believe in giving out birth control or condoms
only in putting her foot down holding her breath and demanding that teens
abstain from having sex.
No family planning or education for kids. Well Mrs. Palin,
hows that working out for you?
Since your way of education doesn’t have any secondary plan
no back-up it always leads to an un-wanted pregnancy. The other part of this
story is that she, Mrs. Palin still doesn’t get it. This out come, on which she
now has a front row seat, has had no effect
on her beliefs in abstinence . She still thinks you only have to yell it louder
or more often to make abstinence work. She is unable to modify her views even
in the face of the changing situation in her family. This doesn’t bode well for
her leadership ability.
How can she change America when she can’t change
herself.?
Democracy Waning thinks: It’s ok if she wants to “shot gun”
her kid and some other horney red neck smuck into premature matrimony and
parenthood. But she if she gets the chance, will she do the same thing to your
kids?
Democracy Waning has been thinking... We as a country have too many ties to
middle east oil. We need to control our own oil future and we need to do it now.
There is a way for us to become energy independent while sticking it to
OPEC.
We have to think in a new way about our oil .Think outside the
box.
America has lots of oil reserves, off our coast, in Alaska and shale
oil deposits in the Northwest.
Oil companies are willing to dig, drill
and squeeze those oil reserves out and then sell them on the open market. We as
Americans get some tax breaks or oil royalties from the sale of that oil but we
have to buy back our own oil at world market prices. Hey its our oil! Why should
we only get a share when America should get the lion's share? Why can't we
develop those oil fields for us and by us (FUBU) just like the famous
international company that started with hats and people from the hood. Its our
oil lets use it for us instead of against us.
I suggest that
America begin to develop in its own interest. There are oil companies who could
be hired to drill the oil refine it and distribute it to America.
Once
the oil is refined I suggest that we use our resources to fuel us. Hospitals,
emergency vehicles, schools, municipal vehicles the poor, and our military all
subsidized by our own oil. We could give it to them at a rate that pays for the
development and distribution. certainly under a dollar a gallon
price.
Now here is the best part. when we fuel all these interest we
decrease the demand for world oil. Opec, Mexico , Venezuela. All will have a
glut of oli that they cant sell at $100.00 dollars a barrel . The can't eat Oil!
Their prices will have to drop. The rest of the world benefits and we are no
longer under the cartel's thumb for energy. By doing this we take control of our
supply and demand. No more war for oil.
The oil companies will vie for
the chance to dig Americas fuel. They all know there is still lots money to be
made in this venture and by regulating them we can protect against oil spills
and still protect our environment.
The money we save on foreign oil can
also help us to begin to develop our way out of fossil fuels. With my plan
America can take control of it's own destiny again.
This is a older post but Gretna, La. still holds the shame
of what its people did to the survivors of Katrina. We should never
forget.
Democracy Waning knows that many people reached out to the
victims of Hurricane Katrina. There were those people that reached out to saved
lives, and those that reached out to make money. But then there was Gretna,
Louisiana, who reached out with their prejudice and greed to protect themselves
while sending hurricane victims to their doom.
When people tried to
escape on buses from New Orleans over the bridge to Gretna, they were met by
local and state law enforcement, who fired upon the buses, turning them around
and sending them back to a cruel fate.
There was no remorse on the part
of these officials responsible for sending the buses back. The sheriff appeared
on CNN the next morning who proceeded to preen and boast about his reprehensible
actions. He was too stupid to know what he did was outside the realm of common
decency, as well as the law.
Its been two years since the officials of
Gretna commited this deplorable act. Has the town of Gretna ever been held
responsible for these crimes against humanity? For more on Gretna

Many in the news ask why isn’t Obama more
ahead of John McCain? Polls show them in a neck and neck race even up to August.
Democracy Waning has an answer.
Lots of people say we don’t know
Barack but we know John McCain. Well I think that most people don’t know McCain.
I believe there are quite a few” Low information Voters”(LIVs) who don’t really
know anything and don’t really want to find out. They simply take things for
granted and then take those things to heart.
John McCain calls himself a
“Maverick.” Well, what is a Maverick? The dictionary says the word comes from
the proper name of Samuel Maverick a pioneer in the 1870s who did not brand his
calves. Also in that same spirit it calls maverick a man who goes against his
party or group.
Is John McCain a “Maverick?”
Well, at first
blush the LIVs think John McCain may be one. He did go against his party in 2000
but then the party wouldn’t pick him as their candidate. But in 2008 John McCain
has to re-make himself to the party to win. So he changed his maverick ways and
became one of the republican parties rank and file.
McCain has voted
with Bush 95% of the time in 2007 and 100% of the time so far in 2008, but he
still calls himself a maverick.
He has changed his mind about core
values over 27 times including his flip flops on tax cuts, global warming and
his own bill on border security, which he no longer backs.
Remember when
he called Fallwell, Robertson and others of that ilk “agents of religious
intolerance”. But then he went to Bob Jones University, the home of intolerance
to announce his candidacy.
John McCain says that he can track down Osama
Bin Laden and that he knows how to win a war. It’s his war experience that he
will use against our enemies.
Now that sounds really believable to the
LIVs, but Has anyone asked John “what is you history in tracking down wanted
men?” Has John McCain ever shown up with a wanted felon in tow? Has he ever been
on “Dog the Bounty Hunter or Most Wanted or Cops”? No. And his ability to win
the war is about as likely.
Has John McCain ever been on the winning
side of a war?
He was last in his class at the naval academy. Do they
give a winners trophy or even a participation ribbon for that?
He spent
the last five years of the Vietnam War in prison, on the bench.
Where
does he get his ability to win when he has never stood in the winners
circle?
John McCain has a beautiful trophy wife now with her he’s a
winner but what did he have to do to his first wife to get Cindy?
When
McCain returned from Vietnam his wife Carol was not the same young model he had
said good-bye to. She had been in a terrible car crash and after learning to
walk again and gaining weight she was no longer the trophy wife he had left
behind.
John McCain dated Cindy Hensley for 8 months before he was
divorced. H e asked her to marry him and got a marriage license before his first
marriage was over.

Some years ago I had a job that allowed me to travel throughout the world.
In between getting passports, packing bags and finalizing itineraries I got drunk a lot with my good friend Randy. Now randy had many pearls of wisdom to share. But his most memorable tip at that time was over shots of tequila and beer. Randy held out his hands filled with imaginary piles of crap and boot polish and said" Tony this is **** and this is Shinola. No matter where you go or how long you stay, you must know the difference".
Since that time I've stopped traveling and had way too many shots of tequila but the lesson still is with me. I hope it will help you too.
John McCain is he Shinola or just ****?
McCain was a war hero and some have suggested that being a war hero is not enough to be president, there must be more.
McCain claims he knows how to win a war but he hasn't utilized that knowledge in any of the two wars he has lost so far.
McCain spent 5 years as a POW. Well if 5 years in jail equals president then I have a nephew who should be king. No if you really want size up John McCain then look at his record.
McCain's voting record for veterans is feeble. He has a "D" rating with The Iraq and Afghanistan veterans organization. He has a 20% rating with The DAV the lowest rating of all senators. he has voted 6 times against veteran bills. Obama has an 80% rating and a ‘B" rating for his votes.
McCain has been part of the administration that has sent our troops into battle without their amour. They were sent into Iraq without a plan for getting them out. And then after squandering their mission John McCain along with the current administration refused to support the disabled returning troops or their families.
McCain has trumpeted his comradery with the soldier while all the time voting against them. - "He voted against an amendment providing $20 billion to the VA's medical facilities. [5/4/06] He voted against providing $430 million to the VA for outpatient care "and treatment for veterans," one of only 13 senators to do so. [4/26/06] He voted against increasing VA funding by $1.5 billion by closing corporate loopholes. [3/14/06] And John McCain voted against increasing VA funding by $1.8 billion by ending "abusive tax loopholes." [3/10/04] This is not Shinola.
Mccain has the lowest rating of all 100 senators on veterans votes.
McCain is thought of a great supporter of the troops by the low information votes. But then they don't know **** from Shinola.
